위정현 소장 미국 Digital Hollywood 본 연구소의 위정현 소장은 2010년 5월 5일 예정의 Digital Hollywood Conference at LA에서 "G learning: it's value for learning"라는 제목으로 keynote speech를 할 예정입니다. 이 강연에서는 한국의 G 러닝의 성과에 대한 소개와 함께 미국 도입의 가능성에 대해 검토할 예정입니다.

샌타모니카 로우스 호텔에서 열릴 올해의 Digital Hollywood Conference는 Digital 산업에 대한 미국 최대 컨퍼런스 중 하나로 17회째를 맞이하고 있습니다. 이 컨퍼런스는 5월 3일- 6일까지 진행됩니다. 'Game-based Learning: Online Gaming Merges with the Learning Experience'라는 주제의 이 패널에서 본 연구소의 소장인 위정현 교수가 keynote speech(주제강연)를 할 예정입니다(아래 사이트 참조).

현재 미국의 게임 기반 학습은 PC게임과 플래시 기반이 주류로 G러닝과 같은 형태의 콘텐츠는 존재하지 않고 있습니다. 또 이러한 콘텐츠의 경우에도 학생들의 약한 학습몰입성, 효과에 대한  검증 미비 등의 이유로 교육 현장에 보급되지 못하고 있습니다. 

G러닝은 현재 위기에 처한 미국 공교육에 대한 유력한 대안 중의 하나로 인식되어 미국 현지에서 상당한 관심을 모으고 있습니다. 미국 교육 현장은 교사의 자질 저하, 의욕 상실에 경제위기에 따른 예산의 대폭 삭감이 겹쳐 최악의 상황을 맞이하고 잇습니다. 따라서 IT기반의 한국 교육 콘텐츠가 미국 시장에 진입할 절호의 기회입니다.

Game-based Learning: Online Gaming Merges with the Learning Experience

Games are immersive and entertaining, so it’s no wonder that the medium is also being used for educational purposes. This panel will discuss several different approaches to game-based learning, with specific examples demonstrating gaming’s unique potential to engage students beyond the capability of traditional classroom lessons. Including a successful Korean game-based learning project now being used at a number of schools, the panel will discuss the diverse ways this medium is implemented in the United States..
